We were always curious to visit the infamous Stonehenge, and finally this spring we had the opportunity to see it for ourselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are various ways to get there and we chose to take the bus from Salisbury.<\/span><\/p>\n

Salisbury is also one of the most authentic towns of England. The city took its official name in 2009; before it was known as New Sarum. The town centre has preserved its original architecture and there are many shops, restaurants and cafes. The ancient trade centers, named \u201cRows\u201d are still present: Fish Row, Butcher Row, Ox Row, Oatmeal Row, where you can buy goods in an open-air market atmosphere.\u00a0<\/span>The Salisbury Cathedral has the tallest spire in Britain, weighing 6,500 tons. Another interesting fact about this Cathedral is that it hosts one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta, dating from June 1215.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMagna Carta stressed that everyone, even the king, had to treat people fairly and that no one was above the law<\/i><\/span>\u201d.

STONEHENGE<\/span><\/p>\n

Although there are many stories and myths behind the mysterious historical monument, it is still not clear what they reflect or how they were used. For more than 5 millennium, there have been different legends told over this interesting monument. As there are not any written documents from that period, the story behind Stonehenge is debatable.<\/span><\/p>\n

However you would like to interpret the Stonehenge story, it is certain that you will be impressed by this monument, standing on its own on the vast and huge Salisbury Plain. The mystical atmosphere is enhanced with the infamous English weather, greyish clouds and a cool breeze, creating the ultimate experience to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/span><\/p>\n
